In the style of Black Radical Aesthetics, Trapbone Bandit captures the politics and sound of a young musician in the midst of a very Black American struggle. This sketch is trapezoidal in structure, therefore it attempts to arrange factual and biographical information along lines of resistance, survival, and Black imagination. Originally adapted from Eryk D. Radical’s 2019 federal lawsuit against Atlanta Police Departments, this story scores the history of social engineering designed to disable, dismantle, and depress the spiritual architecture of Blackness attuned to the vibrations of Black greatness.
